Act 3 Scene 1

In this scene Macbeth had been pronounced King although with that title the guilt of his actions were still there. He was rather paranoid, especially of Banquo. Because Banquo had been there when the witches told Macbeth his future he knows that Macbeth had a reason to kill the King. Macbeth wants Banquo dead so that no one will know what he did. He also wants the sons of Banquo dead as well because, according to the witches, they are meant to become the sons of the King. In Macbeth’s eyes this is unfair; they did nothing to have those titles yet Macbeth had to murder to become King.
