A language feature that was used in my transcript was a verbal filler. A verbal filler is a word used during speaking that lets the other person process what is being said to them. This language effect adds meaning to a conversation because it allows time for the person who is receiving information to be able to understand and interpret what they are hearing. An example of a verbal filler, used during my transcript, was “we have like an hour.” Like was used so that the listener could focus on what the speaker was saying to them. Language features like these are used a lot during every conversation to add more meaning and understanding.
