Darkness filled the woods, seeping into every corner. Trees towered over, creating a a barrier to the outside world. A prison. A gloomy mist cloaks the ground, hiding the truth. Every now and then a slow breeze passes through these empty woods, filling the air with the hollow smell of death. Rotting trees. Fallen leaves. Beyond the mysteriously lonely woods the outside thrives with life. Although these woods only portray a snippet of the darkness in this world, it makes her feel like there is no light to be seen. With each slow, cautious step she takes she enters a place there in no coming back from. Silence. There should be sound. The sound of animals wandering through the woods. The sound of the trees rustling when the wind sweeps through, but theres nothing. She focusses on each breath she takes, hoping it’ll take her mind off of what is coming next. The air feels thick around her, it suffocates her, makes her feel like she’s drowning in her own lies.
