Gattaca – modernist architecture

The film Gattaca, written and directed by Andrew Niccol, displays what life would be like if genetic selection was used throughout all of society. This futuristic idea of using genetic selection to create a more ‘perfect’ human has many connections with the modernist architecture used throughout gattaca. Modernism is a theory that was made to change the way society viewed art and life. Modernist architecture embodies some of the objectives of modernism. The idea of being able to create a more ideal human shares connections with modernist architecture. Both have been created to the make the perfect form of something (genes or architecture). Although they appear to be perfect and ideal to society they both lack an important feature, uniqueness. Often people believe perfection

imperfection doesn’t have to be a flaw.
