Own Paragraph

After it becomes known that Macbeth will become King, Lady Macbeth wishes to have King Duncan killed, yet without being overcome with her guilt. When Lady Macbeth says “and fill me from the crown to the toe top-full of direst cruelty” she uses a metaphor to describe herself as an object that is being filled with cruelty. This shows us that she believes it is possible for her to become flooded with the guilt of her true intentions. She goes on to say “stop the access and passage to remorse”. When saying this she means that she wishes to not feel remorse or guilt by blocking any way it can get to her. By using these metaphors Shakespeare shows us how there is no physical way to block the passages for remorse yet she wants to somehow avoid those feelings. Lady Macbeth has rather cruel intentions however she does not want to feel guilty about the truth of them.
